Meet Our Executive Director ~ Michael Banghart

Michael Banghart has been with RSSI for over 19 years and has been in the social services field for more than 32 years. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist.
He began his career in 1990 working with chronically mentally ill older adults and in 1992 began working in a supportive housing organization working with chronically mentally ill adults and mothers with children.
In 1995, Michael began doing research into the homeless, seriously mentally ill (HSMI) adults for a longitudinal federal grant. Michael has published three articles in peer-reviewed journals and has two published book chapters. He has presented at conferences around the country and is currently a member of the American Counseling Association, American Psychological Association, and the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology. He received his MA in Counseling Psychology from Adler University in Chicago and his BS in Psychology and Sociology at Michigan State University.
He is licensed in the State of Illinois as a Professional Counselor. Mr. Banghart is on the Executive Committee of the Service Providers Commission of the Chicago Continuum and on the Board of Directors of All Chicago, and the Governing Board of the Chicago Continuum of Care. He also serves on the Permanent Supportive Housing Constituency Group and the Chronic Homeless Constituency Group, the Homelessness Prevention Committee and the Council on Latino Homelessness.
