Mayan ruins growing out of the lush green moss of Yaxchilan. The ancient Mayan city located on the bank of the Usumacinta river in the state of Chiapas, Mexico is dark and enchanting. Dating all the way back to 400 AD, it was a regional capital until around the 9th century. Now you are able to traverse its many steps and ruins.
